What We Do

Tirafanga Sustainability Alliance empowers under-resourced communities to design and implement environmentally sustainable solutions that improve well-being and resilience by co-creating tailored projects, integrating indigenous knowledge, and fostering long-term partnerships. Through education, collaboration, and advocacy, we promote self-sufficiency, equitable resource access, and innovative sustainability practices that strengthen community leadership and environmental integrity.

Since 2013, we have supported initiatives in response to local needs in the Jaman North District, Bono Region of Ghana, including opening and developing an alternative school in a remote area, addressing plastic waste issues in regards to water distribution, and have worked with local farmers to return to organic and polycultural practices.

Started by Michael Obah, who was born and raised in Ghana, and Laurel Fanya House, from the U.S., all of our projects began as a direct response to needs observed while being on the ground and collaborating with family and community in Ghana. All of our efforts have been unpaid and the majority of funds to support everything from building, repairs, and start-up costs to teachers salaries have been paid out of our own pocket. Now with the incorporation of Tirafanga Sustainability Alliance, we can receive tax deductible donations and grant funding.

We are immensely grateful for your support!
